Description:

The purpose of the analysis is to assist journalists, media workers, judges, prosecutors, lawyers and the Ministry of Justice in implementing international standards for the protection of journalists in the Macedonian Criminal Code.

The analysis continues the Association of Journalists of Macedonia’s (AJM) efforts to raise public awareness of issues related to the safety of journalists and the potential harm of the established practice of impunity for perpetrators of acts directed against journalists and media workers.

The analysis emphasizes the importance of the Criminal Code, as well as the Law on Criminal Procedure of the Republic of North Macedonia in strengthening the safety of journalists and media workers through comments on the actions of prosecutors, in the cases when acting on a reported criminal case or when the commissions for misdemeanors at the Ministry of Interior act when misdemeanors are reported.
